This book features a collection of poems, short stories, and essays by author and environmentalist Wendell Berry. In addition to the topic of the Earth's deterioration, many of Berry's works address the theme of "ujima". "Ujima" is a Swahili word which represents the concept of collective work and responsibility; I interpreted Berry's focus on this theme as a call to action for humans to work together to take care of the Earth. I supported this thematic interpretation through choice of color, imagery, and visual texture.
