Comme Une Bouteille À La Mer is a storytelling and monologue show from Productions Chien Pas De Médaille, written and acted by Guillaume Beaulieu and accompanied by pianist Suzanne Blais, from tales originally written by Gilles Vigneault, and staged by Étienne Jacques and Guillaume Beaulieu.

The show

Written tales are adapted to oral expression in order to keep the appeal of Vigneault poetic writing, while making everything flowing and understandable. Large themes are introduced by the narrator, such as childhood, freedom and love, as well as personal anecdotes to complete tales. Even if tales are written separately, a common thread can be found between many of them, and they are full of imagery that they remind of movie scenes. However, the audience remain in control of the different morals.

Digital design

On stage, three surfaces are placed at three different levels : one near the pianist in the front-bottom of the stage right (opposite prompt), another one in the middle of the stage at human size, and the last one suspended in the top-back of the stage left (prompt side). Those screens are made of mosquito net, allowing the audience to see through it, and giving the impression that the visuals are appearing on stage magically. Visuals are of two types whether the narrator is storytelling, or it is the end of one. In the first case, it is images or videos to illustrate the narrator storytelling, otherwise, it is words or sentences from the tale ended. Those words and sentences stay as the show goes along, filling up the stage, and reinforcing the Vigneault's world and the narrator's interest for it.
