Drawing Closer
Kaysie Pillai . 2017
"Drawing Closer" is a conceptual student project based on a real Japanese festival called the Enmusubi Furin or the wind chime festival. The project involves the branding of the event in a more contemporary style, from the development of the concept and logo, to the creation of collaterals specific for this Japanese event. The list of collaterals include tickets for workshops during event, brochures, wind chime packaging and tanzaku and a concept book.

The festival revolves around wind chimes but also love. The created theme for this event encompasses the act of two people getting to know each other and falling in love. They draw closer and become closer as they learn more about each other. This can also be interpreted through the red string of fate whereby the two ends of the string get closer when the two fated to be together come together. Ties are also drawn closer symbolically through the mizuhiki cords tied around gifts as the drawing and pulling of the cords result in a tight and unbreakable knot. This then also represents the wishes of people around us who wish us to draw closer and have a stronger, closer relationship with our fated ones.

The point of this festival is help people to draw closer and be closer to their fated other half. Be it to find the one or to nurture the relationship, the ends red string of fate will be brought much closer together. It will be a celebration of finding love and falling in love. Not only do two people coming closer, on a larger scale, families also come closer together.
Thank You!
