Gorkha Earthquake, Two Years Later // Kathmandu

On April 25th 2015 the Gorkha earthquake claimed around 9000 lives. It injured many more and damaged/destroyed more than half a million buildings and structures in Kathmandu and nearby towns/villages.

The earthquake measured at a magnitude of 7.8 followed only 17 days later by a magnitude 7.3. Between the two quakes there were hundreds of tremors. As of June the Monsoon rains caused landslides deeming some of the mountain regions inaccessible to help efforts as well as low cloud hindering air operations.
