Eliminating Infectious diseases

I was commissioned by PAHO-WHO to illustrate a video as part of the campaign Destination: Elimination. Ending communicable diseases. Leaving no one behind.

To help coordinate efforts at the national, regional and global levels, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) developed an integrated, sustainable framework for eliminating infectious diseases in Latin America by 2030.

My work consisted in developing the drawings for a whiteboard animation.

Representing people from every part of Latin America was one of the best parts of this work, and of course, I really enjoyed to draw virus and bacteria. It is really fun to create this bad guys because you can go very creative doing them.

Actors from every sector of society join forces. In the fight to control, prevent and eliminate these diseases, strong political commitment, interdisciplinary collaboration, technical support and adequate financial resources are key. For this reason it was really important to depict involved stakeholders.

But with no doubt my favorite part was to create a little superhero girl who defeat the HIV.
On June 2015, Cuba became the first country in the world to stop the transmission of HIV and syphilis from mother to child. And that, for sure, deserves a superhero story.

Enjoy the video!
