New Jersey-based hip hop duo, Fortunate Ones, approached me wanting the album art to play a vital role in their writing process by drawing inspiration from the imagery I would execute from the concept given to me by the musicians.  The concept pivots around vanity, disingenuousness in the hip-hop culture, and the familiar motifs of sex, drugs, and violence prevalent in mainstream hip-hop.  I wanted to marry the ideas of illusion, cliché, and duality to invoke prominent themes as subtly as possible to avoid weighing the composition down.
Initial Concepts
The underlying structure of the composition is rooted in occult symbol arrangements
and how that aesthetic could be referenced to encompass the narrative.
