Malenadu; an indigenous

the rains have always fascinated me. incessant and invigorating, they breathe life into the world. unknown streams sprout magically from nowhere, as a dry piece of earth transforms itself into a bed of green. and so when i decided to capture the magic of monsoon, it was only natural for me to head to the place i knew wouldn’t disappoint me

As the day finally meanders to a close, a man takes a long winding walk back with his bullocks. The trees meanwhile prepare themselves to watch another wet night. — at Byrapura, Mugigere. India
Layers of thick clouds watch impatiently as a lady goes about doing her job. A child lends a helping hand. The bull knew what was coming and strutted handsomely…— at Krishnapura-Mudigere.
The rain makes paddy farming the natural occupation for the people here. The trees provide the perfect backdrop as the land is ploughed. This signifies the beginning of the farming season
Trees unrestrained in their growth and joy guide me to the outskirts of the town, as I make my way through puddles. I will begin my first assignment in Malenadu from there — in Agumbe, Karnataka
A typical Malnad kitchen during the monsoon. The unceasing rain makes it practically impossible for people to dry their clothes. The clothesline is usually inside the kitchen as the heat from the hearth helps.
While some brave the rain, others find ways to be entertained indoors. A Chawkabara in progress. — at Daddamane- Agumbe
