Warclad Website and Brand

Warclad is a passion project I have been running since 2013. Since then the business has undergone a lot of growth, including the development of a brand
In 2015 I launched a website for the shop. Since then it has undergone several iterations as my skills grew. The latest iteration of the website coincided with branding the business for the first time. Branding a business that focuses on adventuring gear inspired by the middle ages and fantasy culture presented the challenge of blending an older aesthetic with more modern sensibilities. The end result was a brand that lets the work speak for itself, a minimalist style that focuses on evoking the desired feelings of intrigue and adventure. These feelings are a hallmark of the shop and can be seen in the branded business cards.
The items sold in the shop are also designed and produced by me. This often involves research to not only understand the historical materials, methods, and techniques, but also working to gain an understanding of period aesthetics. From this point I must apply the knowledge I have gained to a final product. This can be seen well in leather products where the tooling of a pattern is involved. While this work can, to a degree, be done digitally, it is almost impossible to achieve the desired feel without a bit of a hands on touch.
When all is said and done, the final product is something highly individual and unique. Because of the hand crafted nature of the work, no two examples can ever be exactly the same. It takes years of practice and study to produce these ever improving works of craft.
