Looking back on one of the college works about Typography in Postmodernism, where I had to design an independent project represents post-modernism era. In this case, I took the inspiration from David Carson, who is the so-called Godfather of Grunge. The style was rooted in angst and discontent issues, it leads to breaking the rules of typography. Trying to connect emotionally with the viewer, the purpose of the Grunge style simply want to let all the contents dictate the direction of the design and layout, not the other way around.

I learned to apply these experimental key points to a brand identity project for Escape Cafe and Bar, a fictional place that is inspired by bars in Seattle. With this project, I tried to express the feeling of drowning in emotions and trying to flee from reality, through the typography and the overall design characters.
