This was my entry for CybertronCon 2012, held at Resorts World Sentosa on 11 - 14 March 2012. Artists were invited to customise the TakaraTomy DMK-01 Model Kit. This entry was shortlisted as 1 of the top 5 in the Professional Category, which was really encouraging, as this is my first attempt at airbrushing something to completion. There were lots and lots of hiccups along the way, and I had to finish this on top of my day job as a game artist, but the build process was fun, and I learnt a lot from it.
"In Transformers mythlogy, Orion Pax was the previous incarnation of Optimus Prime. A peace-loving Cybertronian, Orion Pax showed no signs of the great warrior that he was destined to be. Like many, he was intrigued by the newcomers called the Decepticons, who had the power of flight, amongst other extraordinary abilities. The Decepticons, however, soon revealed their true intent, and Megatron’s thirst for power and conquest soon consumed Cybertron in the flames of war.
This scene depicts Orion Pax as the last bastion of freedom for Cybertron, bravely defending his homeland with whatever weapons he could find and integrate with his own form, a cue from the War of Cybertron videogame. Moments later he would meet his demise, however that is but the first step towards his destiny of becoming the greatest Autobot warrior the universe has ever known, Optimus Prime."
