Student Work - Illustration for Designer
Project Date: 2009

The project requires us to redesign a book cover. The book I have chosen is Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities.
Playing with the idea of invisibility, I drew up a city with architecture from various cultures, paying homage to the traveller Marco Polo. The illustration is then executed by paper-cutting. When placed against a white background,  it supposedly renders the city invisible, but the shadows casted by the papercut causes it to reveal itself unintentionally, creatng a delicate and ethereal landscape.
