DESIGN OF
THE ART AWARD
OF THE CITY OF PILSEN
I was thinking, what would be the best way to express a character of a city and at the same time a process of inspiration or a creative process, thanks to which a human mind is being set free from the learned forms of thinking and social dogmas and is able to think in a way, which exceeds this horizon of intellection and thus creates "big things". In other words, this award will be given exactly to these people who are able to think in this way.
I was thinking about which symbols would define the city of Pilsen the best. I have created several designs, which come from the geographical, architectonical or cultural style of Pilsen and finally I have decided to describe the character of the city in a more abstract way. The original inspiration was the tower of the st. Bartholomew's Cathedral, which represents the tallest point in Pilsen and at the same time it is the historical middle point of the city. If I start from the Christian symbology, I could call this tower a place which is the closest to the God in the city of Pilsen. We could say itís a place, which is the closest to the state, which exceeds terrestrial measures and in my interpretation it is a place of higher inspiration. I have expressed this collision of terrestrial and etherial by two opposed colliding spires, which in a symbolic conception represent a collision of a human being with a higher idea.
