Melville Architectural Tour

BACKGROUND
Melville is a suburb in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. It is located near the University of Johannesburg in Auckland Park, and the University of the Witwatersrand located in Braamfontein. But most is unknown about Melville. Some say the name Melville came from Edward Harker Vincent Melville a government surveyor who determined the latitude and the longitude of Johannesburg. The land where Melville formed was a part of the Farm Braamfontein called Emmarentia.

CONCEPT
“Melville as a heritage site: To celebrate the architectural structures in Melville”.

The idea is to make people interact with Melville as a whole not just 7th Avenue. The Melville Architectural Tour will engage people to walk around Melville and discover some of the amazing buildings, which are still standing up until now. With this notion, Melville is seen like a museum/ gallery, with each building acting as artwork. By walk around in Melville people can even discover other things they like in the area. The tour can either be co-ordinated by a Melville resident or by the people themselves. More buildings can be incorporated into the tour, as time passes.
