Pentagons are still one of the biggest puzzles of mathematics.
Since 1918 the hunt to find pentagons has resulted in only 15 types that can cover any surface with no gaps…
but mathematicians are convinced that there are more to be found.
To inspire the participants at the Kyiv Math Olympiad (KMO) in their search for a sixteenth pentagon,
we created a unique and dynamic visual identity for the organization – using the pentagon as a building block.
The design’s distinguishing element is a single dynamic grid, which is shaped by endless patterns,
limited only by the 15 shapes of known pentagons.
However, every time a new pentagon is found, it can be added to the visual identity,
allowing KMO to evolve as mathematics evolves.
