Colour coded timer. Turns orange when some time left. Turns red when a few minutes left. Apart from that, the progress of the 'race' is live. User sees all houses moving in real-time on the left, even as she is attempting questions on the right. This creates a sense of urgency. The quiz is designed to make the participant feel in the midst of action as well as in control of the outcome.

The bottom of left-hand side adds to the experience of gamification. Seeing top performers from your class inculcates a sense of competition. Seeing your pic in the lead keeps you motivated. Again, only first names of students to keep the communication casual.

Notes are outside the diary. This makes it always accessible and one-click away. It also ensures the user stays in the current activity in the diary.

Notes has toggle or switch behaviour. Tap and untap toggles between Notes and Diary. Alternatively, home icon, back chevron or clicking anywhere on the diary brings it back. In touchscreen devices, user can also drag the diary out or into viewport.

Notes are shareable and has local search scope, i.e. search within notes. User is notified if a friend or teacher shares a note with her.
