COMPOSITING PROCESS
So late for a job interview, she is not gonna make it... wait, is she taller than a skyscraper?

Kasumi was one of my first pieces as an independent compositing artist, therefore it means a lot to me. Thanks to the great team behind the project, and despite the tight deadline, I had the chance to experiment a lot with lights and shadows in order to show a strong character overcoming her insecurities. It was also an excellent opportunity to test some cool effects, play with fast camera movements and put some motion graphics to turn Kasumi in to a verosimil giant! Check it out:

Final Piece

Stills
Here some moments in which I tried to build the light as a second character. However, the real challenge was to put an accent on the lighting whitout forget the importance of foreground and background elements.

Progressions
Animatic, rough animation, clean, backgrounds, compositing, sound fx, repeat.

Light as narrative element to emphasis character emotions or anticipate their actions.
Depth and scale were fundamental concepts to work, in that way we could locate Kasumi on her "empowering" path

By the way, this project was made for an advertisment contest online.
No, we didn't win... 😅
But, it is still a good piece, right?
