In collaboration with Guimarães Council and Renovation School of Santiago de Compostela, we were encharge of propose a series of actuations in Creixomil, a local and traditional industry village in Guimarães surrondings area.
This small village was very linked with the river that crossed it, the Selo River; this main characteristic encouraged the local industry of mills and weaves smalls factories. Another main characterist of the area was the ancient intensive cultive that indentify the landscape, together the degradated forest around.
Last thrity years, this area was abandonated; population moved to Guimarães city and the traditional factories were replaced with modern and actual ones. This fact caused also the deterioration of the river and the medioambiental and nature wealth of the area.
Our propose, considerer all these items:
- Recuperate river banks
- Recuperate the soil and the native trees and forest, improving and recuperatind the water rushes system
- Study the public spaces of the area to improve and recuperate the social live there
- Considerer or not, new uses to the abandonated buildings as mills, textil factories,...
