These forms of the sport run under the support of the governing and regulatory body for horse racing in the UK.

Roman Era to Middle Ages

In pre-Roman times, they used horses as beasts of burden. It is believed that the first horse races in the UK were organised by Carl in Yorkshire. It was around 200 AD. The first recorded race meetings were throughout the reign of Henry II. It was during the annual St Bartholomew's horse fair in London.

Racecourses

There are 60 Flat and National Hunt racecourses in the UK. Plus, there are 17 multi-purpose tracks offering both disciplines.

Haydock – Host various quality jumps and flat races throughout the year.

Newbury – Host both flat and National Hunt fixtures

Windsor – Located in Berkshire and has a history dating back to 1866.
