Standing alone as a concept allows for purity and neatness not found often in
reality. Everything stands in relationship to everything else. For architecture
the environment, both built and natural, creates its own demands that are either
ignored or supported. One of the city’s few lots with a vehicle elevator has a
curious dialogue with its baroque neighbor. The color version is equally
