This work in progress begins to explore the idea of the body as a tool for celebration, praise, and sacrifice. Manipulations in the audio delve into the underlying textures of claps, stomps, and voices raised in rapturous celebration of complex ideas of faith. This audio, juxtaposed against the celebratory archival footage of the doomed People’s Temple, aims to illuminate the fine edge between ecstasy and consumption.
