Manifesto: Internal Artist Series
During my internship in Pestle & Mortar Clothing, I've had the opportunity to create my first t-shirt collection. The reason why I chose to call the collection Manifesto is because it is a manifesto of my experiences of my time spent here in Malaysia. Coming from a post-Soviet family in Kyrgyzstan, I wanted to share a part of an artistic influence which has highly influenced me as a designer. I also saw the impact of Russian/Soviet inspired designs on modern day fashion worldwide and thought it would greatly interest the local market as well. The designs seen in Manifesto are remakes and influences of vintage Soviet advertisements and graphics of the constructivist period, three of them particularly coming from Aleksandr Rodchenko, known as the “father of modern graphic design.” With his designs being nearly 100 years old, I decided to pay homage to him and his works, in combination with Malaysian cultural influences.⁣

A big thank you to my former bosses: Hugh Koh and Jack Gan, for the realization of this project. A special thank you to Denize Khaandor for layout design, Joe Ee for his lookbook photography, and Vadim Solovyoff for modeling and video production.
