All projects start as amazing phone calls, right? This one came from a stellar designer whom I had worked with previously and it started with him saying, “Hey, I have a fun idea…”
I came from the culture of going to summer camp, so it did not take much for me to start searching for great camps in the Adirondacks to bring his vision to life. “Camp Wanna Get Away” for Perennials Fabrics, a company that creates high-performance textiles that are truly remarkable.

Sourcing locations was fun since we were looking in the same area where photographer, Bruce Weber, has shot so much of his work. True to form as the numbers started coming in we came to the conclusion that we couldn’t afford to get everyone to upstate NY. Believe it or not, someone suggested a place in Oklahoma called Broken Bow. Not as sexy as the Adirondacks but it was truly amazing. We scouted it, came up with a shot list, and then proceeded to have the client fabricate all sorts of different things using the Perennials’ line of “Camp Wanna Get Away”.
Talent was cast and then we set out to this little piece of Oklahoma with talent, crew, and most importantly a great caterer since we were all going to be sharing a few vacation rental properties. I hope the pictures tell the story because we all had a blast. Like going back to camp, down to having a nutso after dinner charades game where we all laughed so hard that it is hard to believe nobody peed in their pants.
