Make Up Manchester Brand Identity

Nancy Spencer hired me to redesign her new brand identity and website. Goal was to refresh her image and online presence and unify the look across all her projects. Also, she needed to be able to accept bookings and enquiries and to highlight her main services, while also informing her clients on the wide range of things she can offer.
The logos were inspired from the way make up palettes look and type distribution worked well along all versions. We went for a clean and minimal direction for the brand and the website - while a few decorative supporting elements were designed and approved, Nancy decided not to use them in the end and go for a bold, simple look as suggested. This helped the brand to look more neutral, incorporate better in various environments and match the character of her industrial studio in Manchester City Centre.
We explored 3 main colour palette directions, as shown above, with the first one being the winner. Nancy liked how these colours added a mellow and feminine character, while still staying neutral.
Trying to stay the all-time-classic look, we combined 2 iconic typefaces: Montserrat Medium and Baskerville. This way, titles were bold and eye-catching without being overly dominating and the main body text is easy to read with a nice flow and a classical finesse. The italic version for the links and the quotations helps the phrases stand out and be better identified.
The final deliverables included 4 different logos, the main one and another three for each of Nancy's 'activity sectors', including her freelance work.
I designed the main website idea and I translated it to all pages, but as the website had a lot of specific technical needs I worked along DesignLobby to expand the look and functionality across all pages, to make sure everything will work and look great.

Nancy is a well-known make up artist with a few big clients so we wanted to highlight her experience and expertise. At the same time, clients’ satisfaction is of paramount importance to her - that’s the reason she’s personally interacting with everyone (student or client) and only teaches in small groups.  For this reason, we made sure we highlighted testimonials of every service on every chapter. With her work being 100% visual, we also linked her Instagram feed on the homepage, aiming to showcase all her latest looks and news without needing to constantly update the website.
