Christ in the Garden of Endless Breadsticks

My life as a designer began as a writer and editor for the Talon, my high school’s newspaper. I came there to write articles, and I left much preferring to design for them. I still love the effortless, limitless storytelling ability of the written word, so when I get the chance to supplement someone else’s beautiful writing with design, I relish the opportunity.
Helen Rosner wrote an article titled Christ in the Garden of Endless Breadsticks for EATER in October 2017. To this day it’s my favorite piece of writing ever — I can only describe it as a sarcastic whirlwind of nostalgia, anhedonia, art history, and mediocre Italian food. (If the title makes you hesitant, don’t worry; it’s in reference to a painting.)
For Professor Marty Maxwell Lane, I designed article in print and for digital reading in iBooks.
