(this work was realised in 2008-2010)
It doesn't do it complete justice if you're not handling a controller and moving through these 3D menus. Anyone with an Xbox360 should recognise where we got the inspiration from for the Event Calendar.
I've been gaming since the 80s (I was born in 1980). It was always my dream to work in video games, which resulted in my passion for programming as a teenager, and choosing to study Master in Informatics. It took me another 6 years before landing a job in games, and I ended up abroad, in the UK, working as the UI developer on MotoGP 09/10, published by Capcom, developed by Monumental Games. You can catch some glimpses of it in this video (none of the in-game UI though, I worked on the menus and career mode).
I was lucky enough to work with an amazing UI artist, and together we were going to make the best UI a MotoGP game had ever seen. Sadly enough, the company messed up his VISA application, he had to leave, and well, the UI never reached full potential. My friend went on to work for Blizzard and Riot Games, so it turned out all right for him.

Still a great experience, and with all the knowledge I've built up on user experience and human-computer interaction, I really want to get my hands dirty on some video game user research, UI design, and development again. Give me a shout if you think I can help!
Bonus: a young Sven the game developer. The guys did throw me an amazing goodbye party...
