I designed this logo for a local wholesale tree nursery and won a GDUSA National Graphic Design Award for branding and logo design in October 2018.
I chose the watercolor texture to represent both the water of Turtle Creek, the company's roots in traditional values as a family business, and their dedication to beauty and quality in their trees. In addition to this fully textured version, I also created an expanded set of flat color versions to make printing (especially on promotional materials) less of a challenge.
It was challenging but also fun to re-create the traditional painterly style in a modern digital medium. Plus – it gave me the opportunity to get away from the computer screen and do some painting by hand as well.
Sometimes thinking outside the box on a design project means thinking outside your computer.
