Batroun is a historic city in northern Lebanon that’s’ beauty lies within its anarchic traditional urban fabric.  This city is, till now, exposed to minimal modern urban development thus, still holds its original fragrance mainly composed of tight twisted streets, cubic stone volumes etc… therefore, my project features a series of arrayed cubes that intersect with the existing buildings and spread on the terrain to regenerate Batroun traditional urban composition especially that the site is a transition between the old part of the city and the modern one.

The upper images visualize two out of three urban entrances to the site and the project that are meant to link the project to its surrounding while each reveal a unique aspect of the volumes.

Simplicity was the key form of my project as the different volumes mimic the city’s modest architecture and traditional houses. The cultural areas were articulated with many voids and transparent windows that reveals the inner urban space created by the positioning of the boxes.
