Question 2. In a short paragraph, tell us about a piece of advertising that you like and why you like it. It could be a TV spot, a viral, a PR stunt or a print ad (If print ad please include a copy of the ad, or a still shot from the TV or viral).

Selected Ad: “Behind the Scenes at a McDonalds Photoshoot”  by McDonalds Canada

I think this short video by McDonalds Canada is the best kind of advertising because it isn’t exactly advertising. It takes a common statement made by McDonalds customers, regarding the appearance of their burgers being different in advertising and answers it entirely logically. It completely diffuses the argument of false advertising, in a simple non-aggressive way. It’s more part of a conversation. It makes McDonalds not seem like a secretive big corporation. This ad makes me think that advertising doesn’t have to be restricted to the same layouts and paradigms, and that theres still an infinite expanse of untrodden ground, it’s refreshing knowing that everything will never be done.
Question 3. In a short paragraph, tell us about a piece of advertising that you don’t like and why you don’t like it. It could be a TV spot, a viral, a PR stunt or a print ad (If print ad please include a copy of the ad, or a still shot from the TV or viral).

Selected Ad: “Word Vomit” by Travel Forever!
Somewhere out there is someone, with a weird name, like Gobsmark, he’s the TA for this ad and he’s thinking “I want to read a long copy ad consisting entirely of a list of 26 randomly jumbled features, with arbitrary use of bold type scattered throughout, and if it’s not too much trouble a headline written in a typeface ripped from a 90s anti-teen-smoking ad”. Sadly Gobsmark can’t go on a Travel Forever holiday since he’s already taken a vacation from mental stability and they don’t let him near sharp objects, toasters or goldfish anymore.
