Lauren Forshay New Jersey's profile

Eva’s Village’s Recovery Community Center

A registered nurse in New Jersey, Lauren M. Forshay worked in the LDRP unit at Holy Name Medical Center for two years caring for laboring, pregnancy, and postpartum patients. Dedicated to helping others, Lauren Forshay of New Jersey volunteers with Eva’s Village.

Created to help people struggling with homelessness, poverty, addiction, and hunger, Eva’s Village maintains dozens of programs, including its Recovery Community Center. Located in Paterson, New Jersey, the Center was opened in 2009 as a peer-to-peer driven center, rather than a treatment program. Since then, it has welcomed upwards of 10,000 individuals seeking recovery throughout all stages of treatment.

The Center’s unique program helps residents improve their emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational health. To that end, the Center offers peer support workshops and groups, coordinates care services, offers free recovery support services, and grants residents information and referrals for treatment and social service programs both in the community and within Eva’s Village. The Center also provides assistance for computer classes, reading literacy, and job readiness, along with recreation and social activities and events.

The variety of services offered at the Recovery Community Center are done so with the intention of supporting every individual’s right to choose the path to recovery that best suits their values, preferences, and needs.
