Us and Them
400cm x 135cm, Painted Steel, 2013
Using the seminal work of Emanuel Leutze, Washington Crossing the Delaware from 1851 as a point of departure I created a piece about the conflictive nature of contemporary society. I created a mirror image of the piece to make it seem as if the same number of people were in the boat but rowing in the other direction creating somewhat of a stalemate. A society that uses it's resources to counteract itself forgetting somehow that we are all in this boat together.

Row, row, row your boat peoples!
