Science History Institute Rebrand

In our Visual Communications III class, we were tasked with rebranding the Science History Institute located in Old City, Philadelphia. The museum focuses on teaching the evolution of science and serves as a place of free knowledge for the public. They focus on collecting and sharing the stories of innovators and discoveries that have helped to shape our lives.
I created a main exhibit poster, a special exhibition poster, a lamp post flag, a website banner ad, and stationary (business cards and letterhead). For my color palette, I wanted my main pop color to be a bright yellow as yellow is a color to represent learning. In the logo I used Franklin Gothic and Baskerville typefaces to represent the idea of the old and the new coming together. Helvetica and Bodoni were chosen to compliment those throughout the rest of my application again as a way of combining old and modern sciences. Throughout my process, I played with mixing graphic lines and shapes and archived images found in the Science History Institute database to bring the spirit of the museum alive through my branding designs and give the viewer a real sense of what the museum is all about.
