This piece was inspired by my discover of my African ancestry. While the ancestry was only able to tell me the region in which my ancestors where bore from, which is West Africa, I tried pulled motifs and masks from that region as ornaments the figurative representation of myself in the illustration. I wanted the piece to pull cultural influences from the pass, as well as, the current day.
