SELF-PUBLICATION: I TURN TO LOOK
I TURN TO LOOK is deconstructive typographical exploration, which is represented in the format of four books. Each book represents my past, present and future perceptions. The premise of each discovery is based on an initial setback, but through self-reflection and enquiry, I look to discover a clear message and understanding of my situation.

I have chosen to work with a collection of different fonts, and their font families throughout the individual books . These include Avenir, Baskerville, Bodoni, Caslon, DIN, Futura, Frutiger, Garamond, and Helvetica. It was my intention to use classical fonts to represent who I am in my past, present and future, as I believe throughout my life time, these fonts will remain timeless.

Deconstructive typography was the basis of my typographic representation throughout my book. The purpose of deconstructing my type was to represent my initial mindset, being a perception of failure. As I learn through each reflection, my thoughts become clearer, and this is mimicked through my type, ending on a bold and clear lesson. Each word was carefully considered, being manipulated to mimic the meaning of the word, or the metaphorical meaning.

Manipulation techniques were essential in expressing emotion and placing an emphasis on specific parts of my past, present and future experiences. Dividing, minusing and scaling, were three common techniques I have used, complimented with a variation of Regular, Bold, Italic, Sans Serif and Serif typefaces.
