FAKE PERFORMANCE
假表演-Jiǎ Biǎo Yǎn

A fake performance about everyday life
A collection of points in time

Fake Performance (假表演) is a discussion of the relationship between the instant image making media-Polaroid and daily triviality.

Polaroid was originally invented to shorten the time from photo taking to imaging. On the one hand, such immediacy makes the film of Polaroid expensive. On the other hand, it eliminates the involvement of the developing process, which means we have no chance to make post-adjustment for the photos. Such timeliness, privacy and non-modifiability are the reasons why we are interested in Polaroid. In our daily life, there are always some trivial moments that are not special or "not worthy" to be photographed, they seem not to match the relatively high price of Polaroid film paper. So in front of the Polaroid’s viewfinder, we recomposed our movements and checked carefully the details, which adds a little bit more ‘fake performance’ to our daily routine.
