Volta Lofts
THE CLIENT
A factory that used to produce electric generators renovates one of its buildings. Historical Volta building in Tallinn’s vastly changing area Kalamaja is undergoing a modern makeover. Inspired by the industrial style of New York, the authentic exterior of this five-floor building will be kept original while the interior design of lofts with up to 4.7-metre high ceilings will obtain a modern chic look.

THE OBJECTIVE
The objective of this project was to create an outstanding high-end brand identity for the building development project that becomes a benchmark in the area and raises the Volta Lofts project above other similar ones in the city.
THE SOLUTION
To stand out and stay authentic, we decided to outline and use the most characteristic element of the building as it’s symbol and logo – the wide rectangular window frame. The overall vertical shape of the minimal and geometric logo also communicates the height of the lofts and creates an immediate association with the concept of the loft apartments.
The identity’s color scheme of three main colors – black, gray and copper – was chosen to communicate both parts of the project: the exclusively modern interiors and the trendy industrial exterior.
To develop further the communication, we utilized calligraphy-inspired headline typeface and created sketches to illustrate the lifestyle of this particular area around the Volta building.
