Teli-Den
by Oluseyi Fatayi-Williams
A shelter is best described as a dwelling place considered as a refuge from the elements. With that in mind, we (myself and two others) wanted a simple structure that didn't require any poles or instruction manuals, but a simple drop-and-pop solution. With this in mind, we created Teli-Den, a simple shelter inspired from novels and popup books of young.
Teli-Den is a simple 4'x4' book (closed) opening up to a 4'x8' living space, spacious enough for sitting and sleeping, with pockets for miscellaneous items, slits on the sides with flaps for ventilation and little holes above capable of holding one piece of clothing and a lantern without buckling.
No set up required, just put Teli-Den down and open up (just like opening a book!). Easy as 1,2,3...
Pictures of the actual Teli-Den built with duct tape, string, wire mesh, PVC roll and used cardboard boxes. Total cost of construction = $12.00
