Trsat castle and flowers, Rijeka, Croatia
Trsat hill had been settled since neolitic times and first had been known by legend of sacred hous that had came from Nazareth in 1291. The Sacred house had been there for 3 years and than had settled in Loretto. Pope Urban sent to people of Trsat Sacred Pain of Mother Mary, that had started cult of Lady of Trsat. Duke Martin Frankopan had built castle at the hiil above Rika Sv. Vida medieval town at the sea. He also started to build great church instead of little chappel. Hero from Turkish wars Petar Kružić had built the Trsat scales first 130 of 560 that leads to hill and helped to finish building of the great church of Lady of Trsat.
All dukes Rrankopans had been buried at the floor of the church and there had been buried Petar Kružić also.
Castle had failed into ruins until the count Laval Nugent, Napoleon's general had not bought it in 18th century. He renewed castle, built there his mausoleum. Trsat castle had been property of his family and there had lived his daughter countess Ana until 1945. Trsat castle had become social property and a monument of culture that had been visited by many tourists. Today there had been held concerts, exibitions and festival Summer at Trsat castle.
That is one of the most beautiful parts of the town Rijeka. There is wonderful view from Trsat castle.at the town and Kvarner bay and the islands Cres and Krk.
