WHAT IS CULTURE?
These two posters were created for a bullfight themed project in which we had to use an icon and two colors besides black and white to create a polemic poster.
The first poster questions what is culture. The question is the center of the attention, sitting on a red spotlight/carpet. The poster is then completed with a known portuguese print from "Galo de Barcelos" or Barcelo's rooster and a Viana heart, both icons of the portuguese culture.
In the second poster is added the bull merged with the rooster's print, and a blood stream coming out of Viana's heart. The meanings twist, and the red carpet beneath the word "culture" is now a blood puddle.
The question "Cultura?" in now questioning the audience if bloody bullfights are really culture.
