Owner's Manual and Operating Instructions Template
Client: Champion Power Equipment
One of my key roles as the lead designer at Ken Cook Co. involved creating and updating templates for various manuals, including instructional, installation, parts, and owner's manuals. Recognizing that technical information can be overwhelming for users, my goal was to simplify the content. While certain requirements and design elements had to remain unchanged, there was an opportunity to improve the overall layout. I focused on making headings and sub-heads easily identifiable, enhancing the readability of the text without it feeling cramped. To aid navigation, I introduced geometric numbering in the lower left and right-hand corners, providing users with a quick reference to their location. Leveraging excellent product photography from the client, I incorporated striking visuals as the focal point on the cover. The model type was identified in large, bold white text, adding clarity and visual appeal to the manuals.
