This project was a poster campaign curated by Malaysian director /actor/ curator Gavin Yap to promote the then up-and-coming exhibition entitled "2057" to be held during the month of Malaysia's independence day.
The exhibition style was very pop-culture centered and featured a handful of well-known local artists such as Katun, Kenji Chai, 1000 Tentacles and Ajim Juxta just to name a few. We knew we had to fuse that "feel" with a patriotic tribute to the local Malaysian culture so we came up with a series of posters that poked fun at some of the trends in the urban lifestyle and imagined, visually, what it would be like another 100 years down the evolution timeline.

I was inspired by fading traditions such as the "wau", "teh tarik" and "planting bunga raya (hibiscus - the national flower of Malaysia)", which were all once part of our everyday life but have now "evolved" into a new wave of iconic trends in an urban Malaysian day.
