The goal of the Emerging Visual Artists Project (EVAP) is to acknowledge, inspire and educate emerging visual artists. Supported by Kryptonite, The ELEMENT, RAAC and Berney Design Consultants, EVAP will provide a venue for emerging visual artists to exhibit their work on a regular basis, offer workshops in various aspects of the business of art, and contribute to the growth of a thriving, vibrant arts community in Rockford.
I created the project out of frustration that young local artists had no idea how to prepare work for display in a professional manner, nor anything about the business of being an artist. The project comprises a series of exhibits and free workshops, with a cash award and an opportunity for a solo show at a local, established gallery.
