Cobbler/Shoemaker Internship

Internship: Assistant Cobbler and Shoemaker
I loved sneakers since childhood and was never really into classic leather shoes. But time passed and my taste are always evolving, making me want to learn how they are made to understand perfectly the anatomy of a shoe and its process of creation. I found this Cobbler in Reims, La Cordonnerie Fantastique, who is working with a Shoemaker, Emmanuel Dardennes, at the same time. I was really lucky to have both helping me and teaching me all those thing I learned during my internship.

Thanks again to Virgil Faria and Emmanuel Dardennes for this awesome experience.
Virgil Faria the Cobbler in front of the store.
Emmanuel Dardennes the Shoemaker.
cutting the leather thanks to the pattern I made with the taping method.
dying and gluing the leather before sewing the parts together.
sewing the lining of the shoe with the padding in the tongue and in the heel.
I made some pattern mistakes on the front of the shoe and particularly on the toe box, making it too long for the 43eu originally made for. The shoe mold wasn't the right one and suited more a city shoe than a tennis one. The shoe doesn't look like my drawing but I'm still proud of myself for a first time. Really enjoyed working on every step.
