We'd walked along this stretch of the riverbank just one Dark ago on our way to our fishing grounds, encountering nothing out of the ordinary. The Bigs rarely ventured this far from their settlement further down the river, but this strange object had clearly been left in this spot by them, it was too clean and dry to have been washed here from upstream. No matter, it would make a fine shelter for the approaching Dark. It would take all of our combined strength to pull it a little further on to the riverbank though, whilst the skies were still bright, there was a tang in the air that foretold of a coming storm, we did not wish to be swept away should the waters rise.
