Public Park Stage

Stage Concept for an Urban Park
This is a conceptual design for a new covered stage within a recently constructed, urban park.  City Officials identified the need for a proper stage within the park and tasked Chapman Design Group with designing a suitable structure that was harmonious with the current park design.
The steel stage cover was designed to be sculptural, simple, and functional.  The curving steel structure would be visually appealing with or without its covering while also providing a location to place audio/visual equipment.  It would provide adequate cover from the weather as well as help to project sound toward the existing, main seating/viewing area of the park.
The location of the stage was adjacent and behind the existing fountain area and at the terminus of an axis that was occurring in the existing park design.
The stage was elevated to facilitate multiple viewpoints, to take advantage of existing access from a higher level, and to create the space underneath necessary for the desired storage.
