La leyenda de Huesquefilo mural

Llegamos a Flor Del Valle un sector bien pegado a la cordillera de Los Andes luego de conocer a Veronica en Curarrehue, región de La Araucania, Chile. Ella nos contó muchas historias de su pueblo Mapuche y nos invitó a pasar unos días en Flor Del Valle dónde vive su papá y tienen un proyecto etnoturistico. Así que nos fuimos a ese hermoso lugar entre las montañas a compartir y aprender sobre su cultura. Ellos nos contaron una leyenda sobre un lago muy importante para ellos y para la región y nosotros lo plasmamos en una de las paredes del fundo Reucaleufu.
La leyenda del Huesquefilo
Un día una familia Mapuche había salido a piñonear por los alrededores de un estero cuando dos de las niñas le pidieron a sus padres para ir a bañarse al estero. Cuando estaban allí vieron que del estero salía un lazo lleno de colores y a ellas le pareció tan bonito que decidieron ir tras el, cuando al fin lo pudieron agarrar el lazo las empezó a envolver hasta que se las llevó a las profundidades y no volvieron más. Desde ese día se dice que las niñas se casaron con el ngeng del estero a través del lazo de culebra (huesquefilo) que las encanto y desde ese día pasó a ser la laguna de Huesquefilo.

The legend of Huesquefilo mural
We arrived at Flor Del Valle, a sector well attached to the Andes mountain range after meeting Veronica in Curarrehue, La Araucania region, Chile. She told us many stories of her Mapuche people and invited us to spend a few days in Flor Del Valle where her father lives and they have an ethnoturist project. So we went to that beautiful place among the mountains to share and learn about their culture. They told us a legend about a lake that is very important for them and for the region and we put it on one of the walls of the Reucaleufu farm.
The legend of Huesquefilo
One day a Mapuche family had gone out to pine around the estuary when two of the girls asked their parents to go bathe in the estuary. When they were there they saw that from the estuary came a bow full of colors and they looked so beautiful that they decided to go after him, when at last they could grasp the loop he began to wrap until he took them to the depths and they did not come back. From that day it is said that the girls were married to the ngeng of the estuary through the snake snake (huesquefilo) that enchanted them and since that day became the Huesquefilo lagoon.
