I was privileged to capture the images of Dr.Choong Kam Kow at his residence at PJ. A man with a humble heart, his paintingsjust captured me in awe. He mentioned that the style and painting that he doesare based on the surroundings around him, things like the ketupat and martialarts were his subject matter. Dr Choong started his career as an art teacher inprimary and secondary schools in the late 50’s and early 60’s before hetraveled to USA under a Fulbright Grant in mid 60’s. Dr. Choong is very humbleand flank yet when comes to artistic engagement, his approach is full ofchallenges and dynamism. His art reflects his ceaseless probes into culture andhistory, theory and practice, humanity and matters, techniques and media andthe mastery power of these aspects
