Proyecto de diversificación
con cacao
BACKGROUND
El Proyecto de Diversificación con cacao is a pilot initiative by Christian Aid and Soppexcca implemented in the municipalities of Jinotega, El Cuá and Boca in Nicaragua with the aim of introducing high quality cocoa cultivation and productivity among small families of coffee farmers affected for climate change.
Through training, technical assistance and other benefits, the project seeks for producers to become more competitive and access high-value markets, contributing to increase their income and improve their quality of life.
SOLUTION
For the launch and introduction of the project, we designed a simple, direct, functional and distinctive logo and identity system that help with the recognition, adoption and promotion among its main audience and other stakeholders.
We developed various applications, such stationery, uniforms, presentations, material for trade shows, etc. with a congruent identity that will facilitate identification in the different scenarios where the project will be exposed.
Finally, we designed and validated teaching materials that serve as support to the facilitators during the training sessions and as a reference material to the producers after the training .
The Logo
For many of the producers this project represents a new opportunity, a new beginning, a "new dawn", with that fact as inspiration we designed a logo that combines the symbolism of the sun with the most representative elements of the cocoa plant, the leaf and the pod, synthesized in a simple symbol, easy to understand, distinctive, strong enough to facilitate its recall.

To introduce the new planting system, we designed a didactic poster / brochure that presents globally the benefits of cocoa diversification and also serves as a practical guide to implement the sowing system and display relevant technical information of the different stages of the crop.
The materials were designed to be highly visual, with short, practical and digestible messages written up by SanchezCampbell's team, using clear and direct language with the objective of becoming regular reference materials for the producers and complement theirs training sessions.
The content and design was validated directly with a representative sample of producers in El Cuá, Jinotega, Nicaragua, to witness how they interacted with the materials and verify the correct assimilation of the information.
The information collected helped us to verify and validate the effectiveness of our design decisions to make the necessary adjustments and achieve a clear and understandable message and design for the end user.
