Operand designed and developed InMarkit, a digital product media and social-shopping solution including Web and SMS components. Through InMarkit people can discover and recommend their favorite products for others to view both on-line and in the real world. 

 

InMarkit bridges the gap between off-line media, e-commerce and in-store promotion with an interactive experience that supports the way people shop: on-line and in a store. The strategy behind InMarkit is to unify three powerful elements of real-world shopping otherwise lost for cross-channel shoppers: discovery, sharing, and location based information about products. Product descriptions, special media and promotions are organized and available when, where and how the customer chooses. Consumers have the ability to instantaneously and confidentially connect information about products they care about to their friends, family and social network – they call it “consumer connected shopping”. Just as services like I-tunes and YouTube are search and share tools for music and video, InMarkit is a search and share social shopping platform for today’s cross-channel shopper.

 

The InMarkit experience consists of a consumer focused Web site, a management and reporting interface and engine for Retail partners, an administrative website for customer support and general system administration, and a mobile SMS text message interface that mimics the functionality of the consumer focused Web site. Operand began by helping Berkley Networks formalize the strategy and business goals for InMarkit. We then executed a Design engagement to flesh out the audience, goals and requirements for each component, tailoring functionality to fit specific needs, wants and desires. Our Design included selecting appropriate technology platforms and providers based upon the unique business needs of Berkley Networks. With Design complete, we implemented all components and deployed them within a closed Beta-testing environment.
