Redesign a dysfunctional magazine’s cover, table of contents, and feature spread

 

Dunebuggies & Hot VWs magazine is read by enthusiasts of the VW “California Look” that got its start in the 1960’s in southern California. These enthusiasts have an extensive knowledge of the history and craftsmanship behind vintage Volkswagen models. The magazine’s original design was too overwhelming and featured too many colors, type choices, and images. For the redesign, I decided to focus on simplicity through large, full-bleed images, more refined type choices, and a breathable grid.
