YCN Brief - Creating greetings cards
The brief was to create a set of greetings cards / related pieces. I took the opportunity to design some playful greetings cards for people who had just got a new home. My idea for the range of cards and related pieces which all came under the name of 'The Home Collection' was to use well known phrases such as 'Home is where the heart is' and 'Putting a roof over your head' to create fun and playful illustrations of the sayings. I went on to create other outcomes such as a moving planner, an envelope design, a gift bag and notecards using one of the card designs as an example of how they could look.
I wanted my answer to the brief to have some deeper meaning, and I decided that I would create 'The Home Collection' pieces, and my idea was that if they were to be sold, then a percentage of the takings could go to a charity which helps the homeless. This way I would be creating items that people who are lucky enough to have a new home can benefit from, whilst also helping those who unfortunately do not have a house to go back to.
